SIG Sauer P226 Equinox Custom Shop .40 S&W – Limited 2015 Re-Release
Hand-fit in SIG’s renowned Custom Shop, the Equinox edition turns the battle-proven P226 into a striking, collectible showpiece. Its signature two-tone Nitron finish with brush-polished stainless flats, laminated hardwood grips, and nickel-plated controls set it apart visually, while its German-forged alloy frame and stainless slide preserve the accuracy, durability, and DA/SA feel that have made the P226 a benchmark service pistol. Produced only in short Custom-Shop runs and revisited briefly in 2015, this example sits firmly in the “hard-to-find” tier for both shooters and SIG collectors.
Condition
Excellent overall. Metal surfaces show only faint handling marks visible under close light; no edge wear, drag lines, or frame nicks. Equinox flats remain mirror-smooth with uniform polish. Bore is pristine—clean, bright, and free of erosion, with sharp, crisp rifling. Controls, night sights, and laminated grips exhibit equally minimal evidence of prior use.
What’s Included
• One 12-round Mec-Gar steel magazine with numbered witness holes
• Factory laminated grey hardwood grip panels installed
• Standard SIG lockable plastic case and Custom Shop test target are not present.
This Equinox is more than cosmetic flair—it is a bona-fide Custom Shop tune-up. Slides were individually lapped to their frames, trigger bars polished, and nickel-plated parts fitted for a smoother DA pull and a crisp, repeatable SA break. The 4.4" stainless barrel sits inside a Nitron-coated slide whose top longitudinal panel is hand-polished to reduce glare, flanked by deep vertical serrations for positive purchase. Up front, a TruGlo TFO combines a green fiber-optic rod with a tritium vial for daylight brilliance and low-light visibility; paired with a SIGLITE tritium two-dot rear, sight pictures stay consistent around the clock.
The frame retains the classic, non-beavertail P226 profile—favored by many for its slimmer lines—yet still offers an accessory rail for lights or lasers. Internal safeties remain true to the platform: a decocking lever safely lowers the hammer without touching the trigger, while a firing-pin block prevents discharge unless the trigger is fully to the rear.
Whether you appreciate the historic German-U.S. hybrid pedigree, collect limited-run Classic-line SIGs, or simply want a full-size .40 S&W that balances showpiece looks with service-grade reliability, this 2015 Equinox delivers. Its scarcity, condition, and Custom-Shop lineage make it a standout addition to any serious collection—and an enviable range companion when you decide it’s time to let it sing.
