Ruger Precision Rifle Gen 2 (Model 18016) – 6 mm Creedmoor, modular long-range performer
Ruger’s second-generation Precision Rifle in 6 mm Creedmoor takes the factory chassis concept and pushes it squarely into competition territory. Built around a cold-hammer-forged, 24" 5R barrel and Ruger’s in-line recoil system, this 2019-dated example delivers sub-MOA accuracy with a cartridge that stays supersonic past 1,300 yards. A folding, fully adjustable stock, M-LOK free-float handguard, and match-grade Marksman Adjustable trigger round out a rifle that interests both precision-match shooters and collectors who appreciate Ruger’s engineering leap forward.
Condition
Overall condition is classified as Good. The rifle shows scattered scuffs and finish wear consistent with careful field or match use, but no abuse. All controls function crisply, the action cycles smoothly, and the folding mechanism locks up solid. The bore is in Excellent shape—mirror-bright with sharp lands and grooves—promising the same precision Ruger intended out of the box.
What’s Included
• Two Magpul PMAG 10 LR/SR Gen M3 magazines (10-round)
• Factory Ruger Hybrid muzzle brake installed (5/8-24 TPI)
• Original oversized tactical bolt handle (threaded 5/16-24)
(No box, manual, or additional accessories are present.)
Designed from day one as a switch-barrel, chassis-ready platform, the Gen 2 Ruger Precision Rifle borrows the best ideas from AR ergonomics while retaining bolt-gun stiffness. The 4140 chrome-moly barrel is nitrided inside and out for long throat life, and the 1-in-7.7" RH twist stabilizes the heavy, high-BC bullets 6 mm Creedmoor shooters favor. If your needs change, the barrel can be swapped at the bench with a standard AR-15 armorer’s wrench and go-/no-go gauges—no gunsmith required.
The one-piece bolt rides inside a full-diameter steel upper receiver, eliminating chassis flex under recoil. An in-line recoil path directs energy straight back into the stock, reducing muzzle rise and helping you stay on glass for faster follow-up shots. Ruger’s Marksman Adjustable trigger breaks cleanly between 2.25 and 5 lbs.
(currently set at approximately 2.25 lbs), and an external hex wrench stores inside the bolt shroud for quick adjustment.
The rifle’s folder is more than a transport convenience: its length-of-pull and cheek height thumb wheels let you dial fit to the thousandth, while the AR buffer-tube interface welcomes aftermarket stocks if you ever want a change. Up front, a 15" aluminum handguard gives you 360° M-LOK real estate and a section of top rail for NV clip-ons or long‐eye-relief optics. Ruger’s 45° ambidextrous safety selector will feel immediately familiar to AR shooters and keeps manipulation instinctive under time pressure.
Whether you’re chasing PRS Production Division points, tuning loads at the range, or simply adding a modular precision rifle to your collection, this Gen 2 offers a proven foundation without the new-gun premium. All it needs is your glass and your dope.
