The 10-shot, 10-flute cylinder triples the capacity of classic six-guns without changing the familiar K-Frame size. This makes the 617-6 ideal for high-volume training, rimfire matches, or small-game field work.
The 4-inch stainless steel barrel carries a full underlug that matches the weight and balance of the centerfire Model 686. A pinned front ramp, micrometer-click rear sight, and a recessed muzzle crown reinforce accuracy-focused design.
The topstrap is drilled and tapped from the factory, letting shooters add an optics base without gunsmith work. Serrations on the barrel rib and topstrap cut glare when using iron sights.
An internal keyed lock, hammer block, and rebound slide provide modern safety measures, while the standard narrow stainless hammer and smooth combat trigger retain the classic S&W shootability valued by enthusiasts.
