The Defender’s 7075-T6 aluminum frame is roughly 30 % lighter than a steel Officer-size frame, keeping total weight to about 24 oz unloaded. Despite its compact size, it holds eight rounds in the magazine, thanks to the single-stack 9mm design and supplied Wilson Combat magazines.
A stainless, fully supported 3-inch bull barrel eliminates the need for a barrel bushing, improving lock-up and simplifying takedown. The slide features rear cocking serrations, a carry-cut nose taper, and a lowered and flared ejection port for reliable cycling.
Factory Series 80 safeguards include a left-side thumb safety, beavertail grip safety with memory bump, and the firing-pin block. The solid aluminum, radius-faced trigger and skeletonized commander hammer maintain the crisp single-action break Colt 1911s are known for.
Aftermarket additions enhance sight picture and control. A tritium front post pairs with a Heine rear sight for an easy-to-acquire, snag-free setup, while dual-texture G10 panels provide a secure grip during rapid strings.
