Colt MK IV Series 70 Government Model .45 ACP, 5-Inch, 1979 Production
Built in 1979, this Colt MK IV/Series 70 Government Model is a full-size 1911 finished in Colt’s deep polished blue. The pistol retains the original four-finger collet barrel bushing, spur hammer, and full-checkered walnut grips with gold Colt medallions. As one of the last pre-Series 80 commercial 1911s, it offers collectors the classic Series 70 action without a firing-pin safety while mirroring late-WWII M1911A1 ergonomics.

This pistol features the Series 70 four-finger collet bushing, designed to enhance barrel centering and accuracy while maintaining easy disassembly.
The polished blue carbon-steel slide carries 25 straight rear serrations and fixed GI-pattern sights—a low-profile front ramp and square-notch rear—consistent with 1970s commercial Colts.
The carbon-steel frame matches the slide’s royal-blue finish and includes an arched, serrated mainspring housing, standard thumb safety, grip safety, and standard long aluminum trigger, preserving the traditional M1911A1 feel.
Serial number suffix “B70” confirms its placement in the final run of Series 70 Government Models, a phase prized by enthusiasts for pre-Series 80 internals and Colt’s renowned late-1970s polish.
