The 1911 DS Prodigy pairs Springfield Armory’s forged-steel 1911 heritage with a modular double-stack grip and the Agency Optic System. A 4.25-inch match-grade bull barrel, 20-round magazine, and full-length accessory rail give this Commander-length pistol duty-grade capacity and flexibility in a still-maneuverable package.

Introduced in September 2022, the Prodigy brings a 2011-pattern double-stack frame to Springfield’s lineup while pricing about a thousand dollars below many competing 2011-style pistols. Its forged carbon-steel slide and frame wear a durable black Cerakote finish and feature forward and rear cocking serrations for positive manipulation.
The bushing-less, 4.25-inch match bull barrel is forged from stainless steel and cut with a 1:16 RH twist for consistent accuracy. A two-piece full-length guide rod controls recoil impulse, and the full-length dust-cover integrates a three-slot 1913 rail for lights or lasers.
The Agency Arms AOS steel plate system accepts a wide range of modern pistol optics once the cover plate is removed. Ambidextrous extended thumb safeties, a grip safety, and a flat, skeletonized trigger deliver familiar 1911 controls with contemporary ergonomics.
A wrap-around polymer grip module with Adaptive Grip Texture offers a secure hold and accepts readily available Staccato-pattern magazines. The included 20-round magazine features numbered witness holes and a red anodized extension for fast reloads.
