Product Description

    J.P. Sauer & Sohn K98k Israeli IDF 7.62 NATO Conversion, 1940 Code 147, Parkerized, 23.62 in Barrel

Manufactured in 1940 by J.P. Sauer & Sohn under factory code 147 and later imported and converted by Israel for military service, this K98k is an Israeli IDF 7.62x51mm NATO arsenal conversion with period-correct markings and features. It is clearly identified by its "7.62" receiver ring stamp and butt branding, Hebrew proofs, and Mod 98 left receiver marking, while retaining the Mauser 98 controlled-feed action and parkerized finish.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.

Bore Rifling: Good Rifling - Intact, well-defined lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: This rifle was refurbished by Israeli ordnance. Minor scratching, scuffing, and blemishing are present.

    What's Included

    • Israeli pattern leather sling (installed)

Built on the Mauser 98 platform, this rifle uses the controlled-feed, cock-on-open action with a fixed 5-round internal box magazine loaded by stripper clips and a three-position wing safety. The receiver ring is stamped "7.62" above the original "147" code and "1940" date, and the left receiver wall reads "Mod 98."

Israeli IDF conversion features include an original bayonet lug, omission of the cleaning rod, a screw-retained front sight hood, and early-war milled floorplate and trigger guard components. The rifle shows Israeli inspection and proof marks, including Star of David proofs, a Hebrew letter "צ" in a circle, Hebrew character proof clusters, and an Israeli inspection cartouche on the cupped steel butt-plate. The stock butt is branded "7.62."

The carbon steel barrel has IDF-spec 4-groove rifling with a 1:12 RH twist. Sighting is via a hooded front post and a tangent rear sight graduated from 100 to 2000 meters, consistent with the K98k pattern. The metal components wear a phosphate/parkerized finish.

The hardwood stock retains classic K98k details such as finger- and grasping-grooves and a side sling slot. Standard K98k dimensions are present with a 23.62 in barrel, an overall length of approximately 43.7 in, and a weight of about 9.0 lb. An Israeli-style leather sling is fitted.
