Produced in Ilion, NY with an MR serial prefix, this Trapper SBL represents the Remington-era run offered from 2018 to 2020. The model was discontinued prior to later reissues, making this short-stainless configuration a defined, time-bound variant within the 1895 line.
The 16.5 in stainless barrel uses 6-groove Ballard-type rifling with a 1:20 twist and an unthreaded muzzle. Feeding is via a 5+1 tubular magazine. The action is the classic side-eject, solid-top receiver that is drilled and tapped for optics, paired with an oversized big-loop lever, a cross-bolt safety, a two-piece trigger/lever, and an external hammer.
Factory sights are the blade front on a dovetailed ramp and XS ghost-ring rear; the rear sight is removed. The XS Sights Lever Rail provides continuous Picatinny mounting space, and the Midwest Industries M-LOK aluminum handguard adds accessory slots while maintaining a rigid, lightweight feel. A hammer spur extension is installed for easier hammer access around optics.
The rifle wears a matte stainless receiver and barrel and a black-painted, textured birch laminate stock with a pistol-grip profile, straight comb, rubber recoil pad, and rear sling swivel stud. Length of pull is 13.5 in. The configuration and materials emphasize durability and handling in a compact .45-70 package.
