Ed Brown Kobra Carry .45 ACP Compact 1911 with 4.25" Barrel, Snakeskin Texturing & Trijicon Night Sights
Hand-built by a single gunsmith in Missouri, the Ed Brown Kobra Carry pairs a Commander-length slide with a bobtail frame, creating a purpose-built carry pistol that minimizes printing without shortening the grip. Its proprietary Snakeskin texturing, flush-cut barrel, and recessed slide stop pin set it apart from other custom 1911s while maintaining Ed Brown’s reputation for meticulous fit and finish.

The Kobra Carry was the first 1911 to combine a bobbed mainspring housing with a full-size grip, giving shooters better control while reducing the chance of the frame printing under a cover garment. The forged stainless slide and frame are finished in a uniform matte bead-blast that resists glare and reflects Ed Brown’s hand-applied craftsmanship.
Ed Brown’s Snakeskin pattern appears on the front strap, mainspring housing, and both slide serration sets, providing a non-abrasive yet positive grip. The 4.25" hand-fit, cut-rifled stainless barrel is flush-cut and recessed-crowned for accuracy and a clean muzzle line.
Carry-focused details include a heavy frontal slide chamfer, a recessed and flush slide-stop pin, and a single-side extended thumb safety paired with a high-sweep beavertail grip safety. Fixed Trijicon tritium 3-dot night sights (dated ’15) ensure a clear sight picture in low light.
The skeletonized three-hole aluminum trigger breaks crisply, while the checkered recoil spring plug bears an understated “BROWN” engraving that serves as the maker’s signature. All major components are forged, heat-treated, and hand-fitted in-house, underscoring the pistol’s custom pedigree.
