The Scout Squad variant uses a shortened 18-inch, six-groove barrel capped with a Springfield radial muzzle brake. The brake tames recoil while the match crown protects accuracy.
A forward Picatinny rail on the barrel retains the classic sight radius yet lets you mount scout-style optics without sacrificing balance. For traditional sighting, the rifle retains a National Match .062 inch front blade and an aperture rear sight with finger-adjustable drums.
The flat dark earth polymer stock offers a 13.5-inch length of pull, molded checkering for grip, fixed sling loops, and a rubber butt-pad that works well from field positions. The gas-operated, short-stroke piston action runs clean and reliably on standard M14-pattern magazines.
