This Cougar is a compact .357 SIG Type F with a DA/SA trigger, exposed hammer, and an ambidextrous slide-mounted safety/decocker. It uses Beretta's short-recoil rotating-barrel system specific to the Cougar series and retains the classic closed-top slide. A reversible magazine release and a firing pin block are part of its control layout.
The 3.6 in carbon steel barrel is cold hammer forged. The slide wears a black Bruniton finish, while the aluminum alloy frame (7075-T6) has a matte black hard-anodized finish. Checkered black polymer grip panels with Beretta medallions provide a factory-correct grip profile. This configuration does not have an accessory rail.
Factory tritium 3-dot night sights are included as part of the Law Enforcement Package. The sights are dovetailed, with a front blade carrying a single tritium dot and a rear notch with two tritium dots, offering a straightforward and durable setup.
Markings include PIETRO BERETTA GARDONE V.T. – MADE IN ITALY and BERETTA USA CORP. ACKK, MD, CAT. 11523, confirming Italian manufacture and Beretta USA import. The pistol falls within the 1994–2004 Cougar era and is identified by mfg part number J835F81.
