Built between 1930 and 1949, this example features factory acid-etched bird-scene engraving on both sides of the receiver, a 26-inch plain round barrel, and a checkered walnut stock set. Its 2 + 1 capacity, 2 ¾" chamber, and friction-ring system for light or heavy loads make it a versatile collectible with practical utility.

    What’s Included

    • Savage Arms Model 720 Field Grade 12 Gauge shotgun

The Model 720 employs John Browning’s proven long-recoil action, giving it a distinctive feel and reliable cycling with both light and heavy 2 ¾" loads. The adjustable friction-ring system lets the shooter tune the gun for different shell strengths without tools.

Factory acid-etched scrollwork and bird scenes adorn the steel receiver, adding visual appeal rarely found on field-grade guns of the era. The matte blued finish complements the engraving while reducing glare in the field.

The 26" plain round barrel wears a brass bead front sight for quick target acquisition. Combined with a 14" length of pull and slender wrap-around checkered forend, the shotgun mounts naturally and balances well.

Walnut furniture features crisp checkering at the pistol grip and forend, offering secure purchase and classic styling. Despite the broken buttplate, the wood remains sound, preserving the shotgun’s structural integrity.

Collectors appreciate the Model 720 for its limited production run, Auto-5 lineage, and U.S. manufacture. This example’s good overall condition and factory engraving make it a solid candidate for both shooting enjoyment and long-term appreciation.
