Introduced in 2020, the second-generation Python uses a strengthened top strap and a modern stainless-steel alloy that resists stretching under heavy magnum loads. Colt also redesigned the internal lockwork around a U-shaped mainspring, simplifying maintenance while delivering a notably smooth double-action pull.
The 4.25-inch barrel retains the Python’s signature ventilated rib, full under-lug, and a recessed target crown that protects the rifling from damage. A user-interchangeable red-ramp front sight pairs with a fully adjustable rear, letting the shooter tailor the sight picture or swap in aftermarket blades without gunsmithing.
