Winchester Model 12 Field Grade 12 Ga Pump, 30-Inch Full Choke, 1931 Production
This 1931 Winchester Model 12 Field Grade is a full-size, takedown pump shotgun built from Winchester Proof Steel and finished in deep blue. It features the classic 30-inch plain barrel with a fixed full choke, matching serial numbers on the receiver and barrel extension, and the Model 12’s well-known slam-fire trigger. An aftermarket brown ventilated recoil pad with black and white spacers replaces the original buttplate, giving a 13.5-inch length of pull while maintaining the gun’s clean, period look.

- Factory magazine plug installed (3+1 capacity)
- Aftermarket ventilated recoil pad (installed)
Produced in 1931 (serial number range 637xxx), this Model 12 represents the early era before Winchester introduced a trigger disconnector, so it can fire successive rounds by keeping the trigger depressed during pumping—commonly known as slam fire.
The 30-inch barrel is proof-marked with Winchester’s oval “WP” and carries patent date stamps, confirming factory originality. Its full choke delivers tight patterns ideal for traditional field use or vintage clays.
Matching serial numbers on the receiver and barrel extension add collectible appeal, while the take-down joint with interrupted threads allows quick separation of barrel and receiver for compact transport or maintenance.
The walnut furniture retains its original oil finish. A 14-groove fore-end provides secure purchase, and the pistol-grip buttstock now wears a period-style ventilated pad that softens recoil without detracting from the gun’s classic lines.
