J.P. Sauer & Sohn Model 60 20 Gauge Side-by-Side – Coin-Finished Receiver, 26" Spezial Laufstahl Barrels, Factory Game-Scene Engraving
This J.P. Sauer & Sohn Model 60 pairs a 1930s-era receiver with a factory-fit 26-inch Spezial Laufstahl barrel set manufactured in the 1960s. The result is a classic West German side-by-side that blends early Sauer craftsmanship with later vacuum-degassed steel technology. Factory game-scene and scroll engraving, a coin-finished action, and traditional double triggers give the shotgun collector appeal while maintaining practical field capabilities.

The receiver dates to the early 1930s and retains its original coin-finish silver-gray tone. Sauer’s factory game-scene engraving on the flanks and floorplate is crisp, with scrollwork and star accents extending onto the breech flats for a consistent, hand-cut look.
The 26-inch barrels were produced by Sauer in the 1960s using Bochumer Verein vacuum-degassed Spezial Laufstahl fluid steel. Chambers are cut for standard 2 ¾-inch shells, and a solid matted rib guides the eye to a single brass bead front sight.
A Kersten cross-bolt, dual under-lugs, and mechanical extractors lock the barrels tightly to the frame, while a tang safety and double triggers provide traditional control. The action remains smooth and locks up with authority.
The right-hand cheek-piece walnut stock features a fluted comb, wrap-around checkering, and sling-swivel studs. Length of pull measures 14.5 inches, and the splinter forend completes the classic Sauer profile.
