Savage Model 99M DL Deluxe Lever-Action Rifle, .308 Win, 22" Barrel (1968)
Built in 1968, this Savage Model 99M DL Deluxe represents the last deluxe variant of the legendary 99 series that still used the internal rotary magazine before the line moved to detachable box designs. Stamped “99M” on the receiver yet factory-designated “99DL,” it features a scope-friendly Monte Carlo comb, gold-colored trigger, and a jeweled bolt—all factory upgrades that set the DL apart from earlier 99 models.

The 99DL Deluxe pairs a 22-inch polished blued barrel with a hammerless lever-action receiver machined from steel. Its five-shot internal rotary spool magazine maintains the sleek receiver profile that made the 99 famous while offering smooth, reliable feeding for .308 Winchester rounds.
Deluxe-grade walnut furniture features a Monte Carlo comb and cheekpiece optimized for scoped shooting, pressed skip-line checkering for a positive grip, and sling swivel studs pre-installed for field carry. A beavertail forend balances the rifle comfortably in hand.
Savage embellished the DL with a gold-colored trigger, a brightly jeweled bolt, and an aluminum buttplate embossed with the classic Savage Indian-head logo. Proof marks include a “B” stamp and an oval “SP,” confirming factory inspection.
Serial number 1173XXX falls within 1968 production, aligning with the closing years of the rotary-magazine 99s. For collectors, this rifle represents a well-preserved example of the final deluxe configuration before Savage transitioned the model to detachable magazines.
