This Expanse M4 uses Colt’s forged Type III hard-coat anodized receivers, marked with an “LE” serial prefix traditionally reserved for law-enforcement models. The slick-side upper deletes the forward assist and dust cover, giving the carbine a cleaner profile and slightly lighter weight.
The 16" 4150 CMV steel barrel features a carbine-length gas system, a true 1:7 RH twist, and a phosphate finish. It is threaded 1/2×28 at the muzzle for standard flash hiders or suppressor devices and carries a “P” proof stamp.
Furniture is classic Mil-Spec: a six-position telescoping stock with integral sling loop, round polymer carbine handguards, and an A2 pistol grip. An A2 front sight post on the gas block provides a fixed front sight; the slick-side upper is flat-top, ready for the rear sight or optic of your choice.
The CE1000 was Colt’s first factory AR-15 introduced below a $700 MSRP, making it notable for combining Colt quality with budget accessibility. Its short production run and unique feature set make this rifle an interesting addition for shooters and collectors alike.
