1914–1918 Erfurt Pistole 08 Weimar Police Rework (Refurbished 1920) 9mm Luger – Unit-Marked S. Br. I. 1026, All-Matching #541
Originally produced between 1914 and 1918 at the Königliche Gewehrfabrik Erfurt, this full-size Pistole 08 was refurbished by the Weimar Republic in 1920 as a documented police rework that retains its original crown-over-ERFURT toggle inscription and a clear “1920” property overstamp on the chamber. All major and minor parts carry the matching serial number 541, and the front strap is unit-marked “S. Br. I. 1026,” linking the pistol to the Brandenburg Schutzpolizei.
The combination of factory markings, police modifications, and intact numbers makes this example particularly attractive to collectors of German sidearms.

This Pistole 08 features the Weimar police sear safety bar installed above the trigger, a modification ordered in the early 1920s to prevent accidental discharge during handling. The original manual safety lever remains functional, giving the pistol dual safety systems prized by historians.
The matching-number toggle assembly retains its knurled knobs and smooth cycling thanks to the proven toggle-locked short-recoil action. The carbon-steel frame, receiver, and barrel wear a uniform period blued finish that complements the crisply checkered walnut grips.
Fixed blade front and V-notch rear sights provide a correct sight picture, while crown proofs and the ERFURT logo confirm factory manufacture. The 3.9-inch barrel delivers classic 9mm Luger performance, and the clean bore with well-defined lands and grooves speaks to proper maintenance over the last century.
