This 1997 New England Firearms Handi-Rifle SB2 is a straightforward, break-action single-shot chambered in .223 Remington. Built on the SB2 receiver rated for high-pressure cartridges, it features a 22-inch carbon-steel barrel with a factory Weaver/Picatinny rail for easy optic mounting. The multi-tone laminated hardwood stock not only adds durability but also gives the rifle a distinctive appearance that sets it apart from earlier hardwood models.

The SB2 receiver is the strongest offered by NEF, allowing safe use of high-pressure centerfire cartridges and compatibility with the well-known accessory-barrel program. This lets owners fit additional NEF or H&R barrels in various calibers without gunsmith work.
The 22-inch round barrel is carbon steel with a matte blued finish that matches the receiver. A factory-installed Weaver/Picatinny rail replaces open sights, giving the shooter a ready platform for scopes or red dots.
Stock and fore-end are laminated hardwood in a brown/gray/green pattern, providing increased stability against weather changes compared to solid wood. The buttstock includes a ventilated recoil pad and an inlaid brass H&R medallion.
