The proof-steel barrel is cut with a true cylinder bore, giving uniform patterns at close ranges without the need for choke tubes. Its 3 inch chamber accepts both 2 ¾ inch and 3 inch shells, expanding load options for duty, defense, or field use.
Winchester’s rotating four-lug bolt “Speed-Pump” system is engineered for rapid follow-up shots. The design unlocks smoothly after firing, keeping the action brisk while maintaining strong lockup during ignition.
A matte-blued aluminum-alloy receiver keeps weight down, while hardwood furniture—with a ribbed forend and ventilated recoil pad—adds classic Winchester styling and solid shoulder feel. The 14 inch length of pull suits most adult shooters right out of the box.
The extended magazine tube sits flush with the barrel and holds 5+1 rounds of 2 ¾ inch shells (greater capacity is possible with minishells, which the 1300 cycles without adapters). A single brass bead provides a simple, fast sight picture.
This Defender shares the interchangeable barrel system used across the Winchester 1200/1300 series, giving owners plenty of aftermarket and factory barrel options for different roles.
