Remington Sportsman 12 Auto 12 Gauge Semi-Automatic Shotgun, 28" Vent Rib Barrel, Fixed Modified Choke
Produced for only two years in the mid-1980s, the Remington Sportsman 12 Auto offers Model 1100 performance in a factory-limited three-shot package. This full-size 12 gauge features a 28-inch vent-rib barrel, a fixed Modified choke, and a 2 3/4-inch chamber, all wrapped in Remington’s classic blued steel and birch hardwood furniture. Its short production run and direct parts interchangeability with standard 1100s make it both a practical hunting gun and a collectible piece of Remington history.

What’s Included
- Remington Sportsman 12 Auto 12 Gauge shotgun
Remington introduced the Sportsman 12 Auto in 1985 as an economy-priced offshoot of the legendary Model 1100, sold primarily through big-box retailers. Despite its budget branding, it shares full parts compatibility with the 1100, ensuring easy maintenance and a ready supply of spares.
The factory-installed three-shot magazine meets migratory bird regulations right out of the box, making it field-ready without additional plugs. Inside, the proven gas-operated action softens recoil and cycles 2 3/4-inch loads reliably, from low-brass target shells to stout hunting cartridges.
The 28-inch carbon-steel barrel sports a vent rib for quick sight alignment and a fixed Modified choke, an all-around constriction well-suited to upland birds and small game. A single steel bead fronts the rib for a clean, uncluttered sight picture.
Birch hardwood furniture with pressed checkering provides a classic look and solid grip, while the serrated steel butt-plate maintains period-correct styling. At 14 inches, the length of pull fits most adult shooters comfortably.
