At just over half a pound unloaded, the LCP II remains one of the lightest centerfire pistols available. The glass-filled nylon frame is aggressively textured for a secure grip without increasing bulk, while the alloy-steel slide wears a durable black oxide finish.
Ruger’s redesign adds forward and rear slide serrations for easier manipulation and integral fixed sights that sit low to prevent snagging. The slide now locks open when the magazine is empty—an upgrade many shooters requested after the original LCP.
The single-action, locked-breech action pairs with a neutrally balanced sear, internal hammer block, and trigger-blade safety for a clean break and consistent reset. Despite its micro dimensions, the pistol retains full compatibility with original LCP 6-round magazines (without hold-open).
