The Rock Island Armory VR80 stands out among AR-pattern shotguns by pairing a 7075-T6 aluminum receiver set with a gas-operated dual-piston system that reliably cycles 2 ¾- and 3-inch 12 gauge shells. Finished in Flat Dark Earth Cerakote, this full-size, magazine-fed shotgun offers familiar AR-15 controls, a threaded spiral-fluted barrel, and a feature-rich thumb-hole stock—making it a practical choice for sport, competition, or range use.

The VR80 uses Rock Island’s proprietary BufferBolt short-stroke dual-piston system with twin recoil springs, keeping felt recoil manageable while ensuring reliable function with a wide range of loads. A reversible left-side charging handle and ambidextrous safety lever let shooters tailor the controls to their preference without tools.
Both upper and lower receivers are CNC-machined from 7075-T6 aluminum—an upgrade over the cast alloy found on many Turkish AR-style shotguns—adding durability while keeping weight balanced. The free-float 7075-T6 M-LOK handguard features a full-length top rail for optics and additional sections for accessories.
The 19.5-inch spiral-fluted barrel is threaded for Mobil-pattern chokes and ships with three stainless tubes, offering pattern flexibility right out of the box. A Mobil-pattern thread also accepts aftermarket brakes or compensators.
A fixed, skeletonized polymer thumb-hole stock with a 14.5-inch length of pull and rubber recoil pad delivers a solid cheek weld. The shotgun accepts factory 9- and 19-round magazines and most third-party drum magazines, making reloads fast and capacity adaptable.
