The SCJ44 variant of the Taurus Circuit Judge combines the familiar feel of a shoulder-fired carbine with the fast follow-up capability of a double-action revolver. Chambered in .44 Magnum and produced only for a short period in the mid-2010s, this model is noticeably scarcer than the standard Circuit Judge line. A polished blued finish over alloy-steel components, a Brazilian hardwood thumb-hole stock, and factory fiber-optic sights give this revolving rifle a distinct look and practical field performance.

The SCJ44 was the only Circuit Judge chambered exclusively for .44 Magnum, introduced around 2012 and discontinued a few years later. Its limited production run makes surviving examples desirable to shooters and collectors who want something different from the more common .45/.410 models.
A 19-inch alloy-steel barrel is paired with an integral blast shield cut into the frame and a relieved fore-end, directing cylinder-gap flash away from the shooter’s hand. This factory solution preserves the handy revolver action while keeping the rifle safe and comfortable to run.
The gun’s double-action/single-action system allows rapid follow-up shots without shifting grip, and a six-round cylinder offers respectable capacity for hunting or range use. An exposed hammer gives the option of precise single-action fire when desired.
The polished blued finish contrasts nicely with the oil-finished Brazilian hardwood stock and matching fore-end. The stock features a Monte-Carlo comb, integrated thumb-hole, and a soft rubber recoil pad that helps tame full-power .44 Magnum loads.
Factory upgrades include a Picatinny rail for optics and bright fiber-optic sights—red ramp front, fully adjustable green rear—delivering quick sight pictures in varied light. Safety is covered by Taurus’s transfer-bar design and keyed Security System lock.
