The 887’s ArmorLokt polymer completely encapsulates the carbon-steel barrel and receiver, shielding metal surfaces from moisture, salt, and abrasion without adding significant bulk. This construction makes the shotgun an appealing choice for boat, blind, or patrol use where corrosion resistance matters.
Unlike the Model 870, this design uses a rotating, dual-lug bolt that locks directly into the barrel extension for added strength when firing magnum and super-magnum loads. The action feeds reliably from a 5-round magazine tube and cycles smoothly with molded grip serrations on the synthetic fore-end.
The tactical package centers on an 18.5" plain barrel featuring continuous ribbing and the included ported breacher-style choke for stand-off applications. A top accessory rail (factory drilled and tapped) accepts optics or lights, while integral sling-swivel studs are molded into both the stock and fore-end for quick sling attachment.
The synthetic pistol-grip style stock carries Remington’s SuperCell recoil pad to soften the punch of 3 1/2" magnums. Length of pull is a practical 13.75", giving most shooters a solid, squared-up stance without modification.
