Built on Sweden’s renowned small-ring Mauser action, this Carl Gustav m/96 has been professionally sporterized into a sleek hunting rifle. A slim 23" target-crowned barrel, Monte-Carlo walnut stock, and installed scope bases transform the classic military rifle into a balanced, optic-ready package that still retains its matching-number bolt components and Swedish crown proof.

Specific Condition Notes: The rifle has been extensively sporterized. The original barrel was shortened to 23" and replaced with a slim sporter profile. The military stock was removed and a Monte-Carlo walnut stock with rollover cheek-piece and ventilated butt-plate was fitted.

This build starts with the m/96 action, prized for its cock-on-closing design and high-grade Swedish steel. Matching-number bolt components were retained, and the bolt body was engine-turned for a classic jeweled finish.
The 23" sporter barrel is target-crowned to protect the rifling and ensure consistent accuracy. Chambered in 6.5x55 Swedish, the rifle offers mild recoil and proven ballistic performance for deer-sized game.
Furniture was upgraded to a walnut Monte-Carlo stock featuring a rollover cheek-piece, pistol grip, dark forend tip, and ventilated butt-plate. The 14.0" length of pull gives most shooters a comfortable fit while maintaining the rifle’s traditional lines.
For optics, the action has been drilled and tapped. A two-piece base and rings are already installed, complemented by a Buehler low-swing safety that clears low-mounted scopes without interference.
