Savage Model 340 Series E .30-30 Bolt-Action Rifle with 22-Inch Barrel & Walnut Monte Carlo Stock
The Savage Model 340 Series E is the final production version of Savage’s economical bolt-action rifle line, built in the USA from the early 1970s through 1983. Chambered in .30-30 Winchester—a cartridge more commonly found in lever guns—this rifle offers shooters and collectors a unique combination of classic hunting caliber, detachable magazine feeding, and robust carbon-steel construction.

What’s Included
- Savage Model 340 Series E .30-30 bolt-action rifle
- One factory 3-round detachable magazine marked “CLIP FOR 225 30-30”
The Series E retains the distinctive fluted barrel nut and right-side scope-mount hole pattern that set the Model 340 family apart. Three tapped holes on the receiver make adding a side-mount optic straightforward without altering the rifle.
Its 22-inch carbon-steel barrel is paired with a ramp front sight and elevator-type rear leaf sight, giving hunters reliable iron-sight alignment out of the box. The action’s two-position safety lever is simple and positive, echoing Savage’s utilitarian design approach.
A walnut Monte Carlo stock with pressed checkering, white-line butt spacer, and sling-swivel studs provides a traditional look while keeping weight manageable. The detachable 3-round magazine—interchangeable with Stevens and Springfield 325/840 series magazines—offers quicker reloads than a typical .30-30 lever gun.
