The SAM5’s milled receiver is machined from a single forged billet, delivering rugged rigidity that outclasses stamped alternatives while retaining the traditional long-stroke rotating-bolt gas system for proven reliability.
Its 16-inch, 1:7-twist chrome-lined barrel is threaded 14 × 1 mm LH and produced using Steyr’s cold-hammer-forging process, ensuring excellent accuracy and corrosion resistance when cycling either 5.56 NATO or .223 Remington loads.
An Arsenal PR-01 billet-aluminum quad/tri-rail handguard replaces the standard polymer furniture, providing full 12/3/6/9-o’clock Picatinny coverage for lights, optics, or vertical grips without sacrificing free-float rigidity.
The installed KNS Precision adjustable gas piston lets the user fine-tune gas flow for unsuppressed or suppressed shooting, while the original Bulgarian piston is included for those who prefer factory spec.
Additional touches include an intermediate-length U.S. fixed polymer stock with trap-door storage (13.5 in LOP) and a factory side-mount optics rail integrated into the receiver, giving shooters fast optic-mounting options alongside the standard AK protected-post front and tangent rear sights.
