The VP9’s 4.09-inch cold-hammer-forged barrel delivers long service life and tight tolerances, while its polygonal rifling aids velocity and simplifies cleaning.
Ambidextrous slide stops and HK’s paddle-style magazine release let right- or left-handed shooters run the pistol without modifications. Rear wing-type charging supports provide extra leverage for confident slide manipulation, even with gloves.
The grip uses three interchangeable backstraps and six side panels, allowing 27 unique combinations to fine-tune fit. A low bore axis and carefully radiused trigger guard contribute to controllable recoil and consistent sight return.
Enhanced safety features include a trigger safety blade, a loaded chamber indicator, and a rear striker status indicator—all designed to keep the shooter informed without adding manual levers.
Fieldstripping requires no trigger press; simply lock the slide back, rotate the takedown lever, and release. This straightforward procedure supports safe maintenance and encourages routine cleaning.
