CVA St. Louis Hawken .54 Cal Percussion Muzzleloader – 28" Octagonal Barrel, Spanish-Made
This CVA St. Louis Hawken offers the classic mountain-rifle profile with the less common .54 caliber bore. Built in Spain by Dikar/Ardesa between 1995 and 2005, it features an octagonal blued steel barrel, double-set triggers, and handsome brass furniture, including a hinged patch-box. Collectors appreciate this variant for its larger bore, quality walnut-tone half-stock, and discontinued status.

What’s Included

The .54 caliber bore delivers heavier round-ball energy than the more common .50, making this model desirable for both hunting and collecting. The 28-inch octagonal barrel is blued steel and cut with a 1:48 twist—well-suited to patched round ball or conical projectiles.
Spanish Eibar proof marks and an import stamp confirm manufacture by Dikar/Ardesa for CVA during the mid-1990s to early 2000s production run. This collaboration is known for solid metallurgy and reliable wood-to-metal fit.
The rifle wears a walnut-tone hardwood half-stock with a cheek-piece, complemented by brass buttplate, trigger guard, nose cap, and a hinged patch-box for field storage of cleaning patches or flints.
A double-set trigger system allows the shooter to cock the rear trigger for a crisp 2-pound “hair” release on the front trigger—popular with traditional muzzleloader enthusiasts who value precise shot control.
Open sights include a squared blade front and an adjustable semi-buckhorn rear, giving practical sighting options while maintaining the traditional Hawken aesthetic.
