Originally manufactured in 1916, this DWM Lange Pistole 08—better known as the Artillery Luger—offers a long-barrel configuration, matching serial numbers throughout, and a period-correct rust-blue finish with straw-colored small parts. Professionally refurbished by Mitchells Mausers, it is presented as a collectible package complete with walnut display case.
The 200 mm (7.9 in) barrel, 8-position tangent rear sight, and integral stock lug distinguish the LP 08 from standard service Lugers, extending its effective range and historical appeal. All visible serial numbers, including the original wood-based magazine, match—an important detail for authenticity and value.
DWM’s toggle monogram crowns the top link, while the chamber is clearly dated 1916, placing this pistol firmly in the peak WWI production run of roughly 178,000 LP 08 units. The checkered walnut grips provide the correct period texture and fit, and the manual safety operates crisply.
Refinishing by Mitchells Mausers produced a deep rust-blue sheen over the carbon-steel frame and receiver, paired with sharp, mirror-bright rifling that underscores this example’s Excellent bore rating. The result is a firearm that balances collector grade presentation with the mechanical integrity that made the Artillery Luger a standout sidearm of its era.
