The TR-prefix pistol is an early production example that omits front cocking serrations and carries the distinctive shield-and-lightning-bolt logos on the slide and cocobolo grips. Every critical surface is precision-fit for Les Baer’s 1.5-inch at 50 yards accuracy guarantee, making this full-size 1911 both collectible and range-ready.

Les Baer machines the Thunder Ranch Special from forged 4140 steel, then finishes both slide and frame in a durable matte blue/black. The result is a tight, duty-grade pistol that retains traditional 1911 lines while adding modern refinements.
The 5-inch match-grade barrel is hand fitted to a likewise hand-lapped slide for minimal play and repeatable lock-up. Les Baer guarantees 1.5-inch groups at 50 yards—an accuracy standard rarely offered on production 1911s.
Carry-oriented upgrades include fixed tritium 3-dot night sights (Baer dovetail front and Novak-style rear), an aluminum smooth-face match trigger set to a crisp 4-pound break, and a skeletonized Commander-style hammer for fast lock time.
Ergonomics are enhanced by 30 lpi hand-cut front strap checkering, a 20 lpi mainspring housing, checkered mag release, extended thumb safety, and a beavertail grip safety. Cocobolo grips wear Thunder Ranch medallions that match the slide’s logo treatment, underscoring the model’s pedigree.
