This Bulldog Classic uses a one-piece carbon-steel frame without a sideplate, a Charter Arms design choice that eliminates a potential flex point and keeps weight to a trim 20 ounces unloaded. The frame, barrel, and cylinder all wear a traditional polished blued finish that mirrors the revolver’s late-1970s appearance.
The 3-inch barrel sports a full-length rib and a fixed ramp front sight with a white highlight for better contrast. An integral square-notch in the top strap serves as the rear sight, keeping the sight picture simple and snag-free for concealed carry.
Inside, the revolver runs on a double-action/single-action system with an exposed hammer. The smooth-faced trigger allows deliberate double-action pulls or crisp single-action shots when desired. Charter’s stainless steel transfer-bar safety blocks the firing pin unless the trigger is fully depressed.
Checkered hardwood stocks with inlaid Charter medallions give the shooter a firm purchase while preserving the classic lines. Chambered in .44 Special, the five-round cylinder offers a proven low-pressure defensive cartridge in a compact package.
Production of the Bulldog has continued through multiple company revivals, and today’s Classic model stays faithful to the original specification that earned the revolver cultural notoriety and a loyal following among big-bore carry enthusiasts.
