The VP9 is built around HK’s pre-cocked striker system with a consistent 5.4 lb trigger pull, delivering a clean break and short reset for precise follow-up shots. A trigger safety blade, firing-pin block, and loaded-chamber viewport provide multiple passive safeties without adding levers to manipulate.
A 4.09-inch carbon-steel barrel is cold-hammer forged and cut with polygonal rifling, promoting long service life and easy maintenance. Polygonal rifling also supports a tight gas seal for consistent velocities.
Fully ambidextrous controls include paddle-style magazine releases on both sides and mirrored slide stops, making the pistol equally convenient for right- or left-handed shooters. Polymer charging-support wings at the rear of the slide offer extra leverage when racking the slide under stress or with gloved hands.
The modular grip features three interchangeable backstraps and six side panels, allowing 27 possible grip combinations without tools. Wrap-around texturing provides secure purchase, while upgraded 17-round magazines maintain original grip dimensions.
German DE proof marks, Ulm stag/CIP shield, and matching serial numbers on slide, barrel, and frame verify its factory origin and quality control.
