The rifle’s double-set trigger, hooked breech tang, and 1:48 twist rate give shooters a balance of traditional style and practical accuracy that helped launch the U.S. muzzle-loading revival.

The 28-inch octagonal barrel provides rigid, even wall thickness for consistent point of impact. Its 1:48 twist is versatile, stabilizing both patched round balls and conical bullets—ideal for hunters and target shooters alike.
A color case-hardened lockplate and hammer wear factory scroll engraving, giving the rifle eye-catching detail without compromising function. The sidelock percussion action uses a snail bolster with a percussion nipple for reliable ignition.
The American walnut half-stock features a raised cheek-piece, brass patchbox, brass crescent buttplate, and brass thimbles, blending durability with classic Hawken aesthetics. Two wedge keys fitted with brass escutcheons secure the barrel and allow quick takedown thanks to the hooked breech tang.
Iron sights include a hoodless blade up front and an adjustable semi-buckhorn rear, allowing precise elevation changes while keeping the sight picture traditional. A double-set trigger lets the shooter choose a standard pull or a hair-light set pull for increased accuracy.
