What’s Included
- Maverick Arms Model 88 Security 8-Shot 12 Gauge shotgun
Built in Eagle Pass, Texas, the Model 88 shares roughly 90 percent parts interchangeability with the well-known Mossberg 500, simplifying upgrades and maintenance. Dual action bars and a steel bolt lock-up reinforce the action, contributing to smooth cycling and long-term durability.
The 20-inch carbon-steel barrel features a fixed cylinder bore, ideal for defensive patterns at close range. Chambering accepts both 2 ¾-inch and 3-inch 12 gauge shells, feeding from a full-length magazine tube that holds seven rounds plus one in the chamber.
A synthetic field-style stock with textured pistol grip and 14.5-inch length of pull balances the shotgun and resists weather. The ribbed polymer fore-end offers a positive, non-slip grasp, while a factory recoil pad helps manage heavier loads.
The matte blued barrel and matte black anodized aluminum receiver minimize glare. Unlike its Mossberg counterpart, the Model 88 uses a cross-bolt safety located behind the trigger guard. The receiver is not drilled and tapped for optics, keeping the profile clean and simple, and sighting is handled by a single brass bead up front.
