Sig Sauer Mosquito .22 LR Compact Semi-Auto Pistol – German-Made DA/SA Rimfire Trainer
This German-made Sig Sauer Mosquito is the 90%-scale rimfire counterpart to the full-size P226, built from 2003–2013 as an affordable, low-recoil trainer. Featuring a polymer frame, zinc-alloy slide, and true DA/SA action with both ambidextrous safety and decocker, it offers familiar SIG ergonomics in a lighter, .22 LR package. Discontinued and now branded as the GSG FireFly, original Mosquito pistols remain sought after for practice, plinking, and collection.

The Mosquito uses a fixed 3.9-inch barrel and simple blowback system, delivering reliable rimfire performance while preserving the classic SIG double-action/single-action trigger pull. A six-groove right-hand twist ensures stable bullet rotation, and the bore remains bright with crisp rifling.
An accessory rail ahead of the trigger guard lets shooters mount lights or lasers, expanding its training and small-game utility. Three-dot sights with high-visibility yellow dots provide a clear sight picture; the rear is drift-adjustable for windage, while the front blade is fixed.
Safety is extensive: ambidextrous slide-mounted levers serve as manual safeties, a traditional SIG decocking lever safely drops the hammer, and an internal key-lock in the magazine well secures the pistol for storage. The exposed hammer allows visual cocking status at a glance.
Stamped with German CIP proofs, AK date code, and SIGARMS Exeter import marks, this Mosquito reflects its original German production lineage. The matte-black slide and matching polymer frame show only minimal handling marks, preserving a clean appearance.
