Smith & Wesson Model 66-3 Combat Magnum .357 Mag, 2.5-Inch Stainless K-Frame Revolver (1989)
This Model 66-3 is the stainless K-Frame Combat Magnum favored by many late-1980s law-enforcement agencies. Built in 1989, the Dash-3 engineering revision retains forged internal parts and omits the later internal lock. A 2.5-inch barrel, red-ramp front sight, and round-butt walnut Magna grips give this six-shot revolver its well-balanced, duty-ready profile.

The Dash-3 designation marks the last Model 66 to use forged, non-MIM action parts, a detail collectors often seek. This example also predates internal locks, preserving the original Smith & Wesson lockwork.
Its 2.5-inch stainless barrel features a partial underlug that adds front weight for faster follow-up shots while keeping overall weight manageable. The red-ramp front sight pairs with a micro-adjustable rear sight to provide a clear, quick sight picture.
The revolver’s K-Frame size balances shootability and concealability. A smooth combat trigger and external hammer support both double-action and single-action fire, giving the shooter flexibility in operation.
Checkered walnut Magna grips with inlaid S&W medallions complete the package, offering a secure hold and the classic look associated with late-1980s Combat Magnums.
