Built in stainless steel and produced in limited numbers—estimated at only 10,000 units—this full-size, single-action pistol stands out for both performance and collectibility. With Coonan, Inc. having closed its doors in 2019, examples in this condition are increasingly hard to find.

Chambered for .357 Magnum, the Coonan Classic uses a proprietary single-stack magazine that feeds rimmed cartridges reliably, eliminating the rimlock issues common to other designs. The pistol can also cycle .38 Special +P with an optional recoil spring (not included), adding flexibility for the shooter.
The linkless barrel cam, external extractor, and commander-style rowel hammer modernize the 1911 platform while retaining its crisp single-action trigger pull. A skeletonized three-hole aluminum trigger contributes to a clean break and quick reset.
Both slide and frame are machined from brushed stainless steel, offering corrosion resistance and a consistent finish. Diagonal rear serrations, laser-etched markings, and smooth walnut grip panels with the Coonan logo provide a distinct visual signature.
Serrated dovetail front and drift-adjustable rear combat sights give a clear sight picture. Grip safety, thumb safety, and a half-cock notch maintain the familiar 1911 manual of arms.
