The Taurus PT 809 is a full-size, 9mm pistol from the Brazilian maker’s 800-Series, built on the design foundation of the XM9/OSS program. This model combines a DA/SA action with Strike-Two restrike capability, a Tenifer-treated carbon-steel slide for corrosion resistance, and genuine Novak-style three-dot sights. With a 17-round magazine capacity and interchangeable backstraps, it offers serious capacity and adaptable ergonomics.

Designed for duty-grade reliability, the PT 809 pairs a polymer frame with a carbon-steel barrel and slide treated in a matte black Tenifer finish. The finish provides enhanced hardness and corrosion resistance, making the pistol suitable for demanding environments.
The DA/SA trigger system features Taurus’s Strike-Two technology, allowing a second-strike capability on a hard primer without racking the slide. An external spurred hammer gives visual and tactile confirmation of the pistol’s status.
An ambidextrous three-position safety/decocker, firing-pin block, loaded-chamber indicator, and integral key lock round out the safety suite. Front and rear cocking serrations on the slide aid manipulation in varied conditions.
