R. Famage Model 1957 Short Rifle - 8mm Mauser, Colombian-marked, Custom Recoil Pad, Blued Finish
This 1957-dated R. Famage Model 1957 Short Rifle is a scarce Colombian contract Mauser built on an FN Standardmodell action and later arsenal-refurbished in Bogotá. Chambered in the less common 8 mm Mauser, it retains the Colombian crest and “1957 Reformado” markings while adding a period aftermarket basket-weave rubber recoil pad. Collectors will appreciate the stepped carbon-steel barrel, intact front-sight hood, and F-series serial range that reflects Colombia’s post-war renumbering program.

What’s Included
- R. Famage Model 1957 Short Rifle
The rifle is built on a robust FN Standardmodell action—the forerunner to Germany’s K98k—giving it dependable Mauser handling with a straight bolt handle and three-position wing safety.
Colombian military crests on the receiver ring sit alongside “1957 Reformado” markings, documenting its history from pre-WWII Belgian manufacture through 1950s Colombian refurbishment.
The 23.62-inch stepped carbon-steel barrel retains its blued finish and is topped with a hooded front post and tangent-leaf rear sight, both correct for this contract and seldom seen with the hood still present.
A push-button floorplate release and five-round internal magazine maintain the classic Mauser loading system, while the aftermarket rubber recoil pad lengthens the pull to 13.75 inches for modern ergonomics.
With its uncommon chambering, mixed Belgian-Colombian pedigree, and subtle custom touch, this rifle offers both shooting utility and collectible appeal.
