The M&P FPC is Smith & Wesson’s first dedicated pistol-caliber carbine in years, announced in February 2023 and engineered for compact, go-anywhere portability. A horizontal folding hinge at the handguard lets the rifle break open for easy storage, yet it locks solidly for shooting. Chambered in 9mm Luger and fed by standard M&P double-stack magazines, this example combines a nitrided 16.25" 4140 steel barrel with a flat-faced M2.0 trigger, spare-magazine storage in the stock, and a full-length Picatinny rail ready for the optic of your choice.

Designed around a simple blowback system, the M&P FPC delivers reliable 9mm performance while keeping weight and complexity to a minimum. The reciprocating charging handle lies along the left side of the receiver tube for intuitive operation, and a buffered recoil system in the stock tames felt recoil.
The 16.25" 4140 steel barrel is nitrided for corrosion resistance and threaded 1/2-28 to accept common muzzle devices or suppressors. A 1:10" right-hand twist stabilizes a broad range of 9mm bullet weights.
Smith & Wesson builds the lower frame from glass-filled polymer for durability and weight savings, while the upper receiver is 7075-T6 aluminum with a hard-coat anodized finish. An aluminum M-LOK handguard provides mounting slots at three, six, and nine o’clock plus a full-length Picatinny rail for optics, lights, or iron sights.
The fixed polymer stock offers a 14.5" length of pull and houses two spare magazines—keeping 51 rounds on the gun without adding bulk. The flat-faced M2.0 trigger, a first for an S&W long gun, promotes straight-to-the-rear press and consistent feel.
With a folded overall length that slips into the supplied soft case, this FPC balances rifle precision with carbine convenience, making it a practical choice for range days, travel, or discreet storage.
