This SGL21 is built on a stamped steel receiver finished in black phosphate with a baked enamel topcoat, matching the chrome-lined, cold-hammer-forged 16.3-inch barrel. The barrel is threaded 24x1.5 mm RH and is ready for standard AK muzzle devices.
A fixed Warsaw-length polymer stock, black polymer pistol grip, and vented two-piece polymer handguard with heat shield keep the rifle lightweight while maintaining authentic Russian ergonomics. The 12.75-inch length of pull accommodates a wide range of shooters.
The rifle retains traditional AK sights—a hooded post front sight on an AK-74-style block and a tangent rear sight leaf graduated to 1,000 meters—plus a left-side optics rail for mounting Soviet or modern side-clamp optics without altering the receiver.
U.S.-made compliance parts are clearly marked “US,” satisfying 922(r) requirements while preserving the original Russian barrel, receiver, and trunnion. Because imports ended in 2014, true Russian-made AK rifles like this SGL21 have become increasingly uncommon on the U.S. market.
