Manufactured in the final full year of the war, this rifle carries the “Mod. 98” receiver marking and the serial number block “G,” confirming late-war production details. The stamped floor-plate and rougher machining typical of 1944 output are present, yet key components still match.
The rifle keeps its original 24-inch barrel chambered in 8mm Mauser. Although the upper handguard, cleaning rod, bayonet band, and front barrel bands were removed, the barrel remains full-length, preserving ballistic performance and historical profile.
The laminated hardwood stock has been sporter-trimmed forward of the rear band area, reducing weight while retaining the sling cut-out, stock disc recess, and cupped steel butt-plate. A 13-inch length of pull offers familiar K98k ergonomics.
Standard Mauser action features include a five-round internal magazine, a straight-handled bolt with three-position wing safety, and iron sights consisting of an inverted-V front post and a tangent rear sight graduated in meters.
