This Mossberg 500 Slugster brings together the proven 500 action with a factory-rifled, ported 24-inch barrel built for sabot slugs. Chambered for 2 3/4-inch or 3-inch shells and backed by Mossberg’s ambidextrous tang safety, it is ready for dedicated slug hunting or defensive roles. A receiver-mounted rail comes installed, so adding an optic is straightforward, and the polymer Monte Carlo stock keeps weight down while providing a straight comb for scope use.

The 24-inch carbon-steel barrel is fully rifled and ported, giving sabot slugs stable spin and helping reduce muzzle rise for faster follow-up shots. Mossberg pairs this barrel with dual action bars for smooth cycling and reliable extraction.
The aluminum-alloy receiver is drilled, tapped, and fitted with a rail, so optics mount quickly without additional gunsmithing. Combined with the Monte Carlo stock, the rail positions your eye comfortably behind a scope or red dot.
An ambidextrous tang safety and generous, glove-friendly controls make the 500 Slugster intuitive in the field. The installed plug keeps capacity at 2+1 to meet many state hunting regulations, and removing it restores the standard magazine capacity.
Serial prefix “U” dates this example to 2011–2014 production. Its synthetic stock and forend are finished in black/graphite-gray and capped with a ventilated recoil pad for added comfort when firing stout slug loads.
