Norinco 56S Pre-Ban Chinese AKM, 7.62x39, Factory 66, Matching Numbers, Accessories NIB
This Norinco 56S is a pre-1989 import from China’s Factory 66 arsenal, making it one of the scarce, true pre-ban AK-pattern rifles available on the U.S. market. It retains its original Chinese Chu wood furniture, matching serial numbers on all major parts, and the signature in-the-white bolt carrier. The rifle comes with factory-sealed accessories and its original cardboard shipper, offering collectors a complete, investment-grade package.

Imported before the 1989 ban, the 56S retains all military-spec features lost on later commercial models, including a threaded 16.5-inch chrome-lined barrel with a 14×1 LH thread pattern and a hooded post front sight base with bayonet lug. The rifle’s blued phosphate finish over a forged steel receiver mirrors the wartime Type 56, while the bright bolt carrier and bolt remain true to early export standards.
The Factory 66 arsenal code and CSI LA CA import mark are crisp and clear, confirming its heritage. Matching serial numbers on the receiver, top cover, bolt carrier, and bolt underscore its originality, an important factor for collectors seeking authenticity.
Furniture is classic Chinese Chu wood, finished in amber shellac for the distinctive blonde/orange hue. The fixed stock offers a 12.5-inch length of pull, and the wood pistol grip and handguards are free of cracks, preserving the rifle’s period-correct appearance.
The rifle uses the time-proven, long-stroke gas piston AK action and feeds from standard double-stack magazines. Iron sights consist of a hooded post front and tangent rear, providing the familiar AK sight picture.
