The Scout Squad variant shortens the standard M1A barrel to 18 inches while keeping the robust gas-operated, rotating-bolt action that made the M14 legendary. The result is a rifle that balances quicker handling with full-power .308 Win performance.
The receiver heel is correctly marked “US RIFLE M14 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY,” reflecting the rifle’s lineage as a semi-automatic continuation of the U.S. service rifle. An 8620 alloy-steel receiver and carbon-steel barrel are both parkerized for corrosion resistance and a uniform matte finish.
A proprietary multi-port muzzle brake tames recoil and muzzle rise without requiring NFA paperwork. The barrel is threaded should the buyer wish to install other 5⁄8-24 accessories.
National Match sights—an .062-inch front blade and adjustable rear aperture with windage and elevation drums—provide a crisp sight picture. The composite handguard’s integral Picatinny rail places optics forward of the action, ideal for scout scopes or red dots.
