Norinco 56S-1 Pre-Ban Chinese AK-47, 7.62x39, Factory 66, Under-Folder
Imported by SILE N.Y. before the March 1989 ban, this Norinco 56S-1 is a rare, collectible semi-automatic version of the Chinese Type 56 rifle. Built at Factory 66 and marked with the triangle “66” arsenal crest, it retains all original military features—including the bayonet lug, chrome-lined threaded barrel, and steel under-folding stock. The “MS” serial prefix identifies Min Shan contract production, placing this rifle among the earliest Chinese AK imports.

This 56S-1 is a genuine pre-ban configuration, free of the post-1989 import alterations that removed bayonet lugs or blocked threaded muzzles. Collectors value these rifles for their untouched military geometry and correct 14x1 LH thread pattern.
The stamped-steel receiver carries crisp Factory 66 markings and a SILE N.Y. import stamp, verifying its early import status. Hardwood handguards preserve the classic Chinese profile while providing a solid grip surface.
The 16-inch chrome-lined barrel offers long service life and resistance to corrosive ammunition. Combined with the reliable long-stroke gas system, it delivers the rugged performance expected from an AK-pattern rifle.
The compact under-folding steel stock locks securely for firing yet folds flat for storage or transport, giving users a versatile balance between full-size handling and portability.
