The R223YBS was one of the last Rossi youth center-fire rifles before the platform was retired in the mid-2010s, giving it added interest for collectors seeking discontinued variants. Its carbon-steel receiver and barrel wear a durable matte blued finish that blends well with the olive-drab polymer stock and forend, creating a modern yet utilitarian look.
The 22" barrel is optimized for the .223 Rem. cartridge, and a wide extractor aids reliable case removal—an important feature when teaching new shooters. The clean bore and sharp rifling support accurate performance right out of the box.
