Made in Windham, Maine before Bushmaster’s relocation, this rifle falls into the desirable pre-Freedom Group era, identified by its L0 serial prefix and clean roll-mark. Enthusiasts often seek these rifles for their factory quality control and forged receiver construction.
The 16-inch chrome-lined chrome-moly-vanadium barrel uses a 1:9 right-hand twist, giving reliable stabilization across a wide range of 5.56 NATO and .223 Rem bullet weights. A carbine-length gas system and A2 flash suppressor complete the classic M4-profile setup, while the 1/2-28 muzzle threads accept common muzzle devices.
An A3 flat-top upper with a full MIL-STD-1913 rail and a low-profile railed gas block make the carbine optics-ready out of the box. The two-piece ribbed polymer handguard keeps weight down while providing heat protection during rapid strings.
Furniture upgrades include a Tapco six-position collapsible stock with an integral QD sling eyelet and a Hogue-pattern rubber over-molded grip that enhances control. Unloaded weight is approximately 6.5–7 lb, and overall length runs about 32.5 in collapsed to 35.75 in extended.
Standard AR-15 controls, a STANAG magazine interface, and forged 7075-T6 aluminum receivers ensure parts compatibility and easy maintenance, making this XM15-E2S a solid platform for range work or collection.
